She was born in Jacksonville, FL to parents James Newton Highsmith and Dessie Mae Highsmith on February 11, 1928. Dessie attended and graduated from Robert E Lee High School. She married the love of her life Henry B. Stewart on January 30, 1951. Dessie took part in many clubs and hobbies such as the gardening club, sports, travel and faithful friends sunday school where she was a devoted member of Avondale United Methodist Church.
Dessie is survived by her son Craig A. Stewart, grandsons Christopher A Stewart (Wesleigh), Brian Stewart (Erica), Adam Stewart (Madison), great grandchildren Cooper, Banks, Mozelle (Christopher), Mckenie Black, Gabriel (Brian), Quinn, Maxine (Adam). She is preceded in death by her loving husband Henry B. Stewart and son Stanley Stewart.
A memorial service will be held on Monday May 5, 2025 at Avondale United Methodist Church 1651 Talbot Avenue, Jacksonville Fl 32205 at 12:00PM.
