Dorothy Inez Jones

Jacksonville, FL – Dorothy Inez Jones passed away July 12, 2022 at the age of 97. She spent her life dedicated to the needs of others. She raised her daughters, ministered with her late husband Claude and shared God’s word. She prayed regularly for everyone.

As a young woman, Dorothy worked as a Secretary for the City of Jacksonville. Later in life, she was a children’s director in the Nazarene Church leading children’s choirs and performing puppet shows. As she became older, she spent a large majority of time studying scripture and praying for people. It was also her priority to keep herself updated on efforts in the mission field across the globe. She wanted everyone to know the “good news” of Christ and wanted the best for everyone.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Claude Jones, her parents Ichabod Tison and Irene Budd, her brothers Lex Tison and Edward Tison, her step-daughter Phyllis Thew, her son-in-law David Blachly, and her grandsons Kevin Jones, Len Aoyama and Jefferson Davis.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters Dorry Bryan and her husband Johnny, Elaine Davis and her husband Ken, her step-children Jimmy Jones and his wife Carol, Ada Blachly and son-in-law Dan Thew, Surviving grandchildren are Wayne Bryan, Kim Davis, Allison Cicero (husband Christopher), Misti Davis, Karen Kounter (husband Steve), Kimberly Aoyana, Joel Blachly (wife Lynn), Mark Blachly (wife Liz), Keith Blachly, Janet Leeder (husband David), Scott Thew, Dawn Brindle and Robin Thompson (husband Andrew). She was blessed with many great grandchildren. She was very proud of all of her children.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 7242 Normandy Boulevard Jacksonville, FL 32205. Services at 12:00 p.m. to follow.
