Bill was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 28, 1946. He entered the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate at the age of 17. Shortly after, while stationed in Naples, Italy, he met his loving wife, Vincenza “Enza” C. Hannah, with whom he was married for more than 50 years. His military career took them to interesting duty stations including Guam and Keflavik, Iceland. After 20 years of military service in 1983, he retired from the USN as an ABHC in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bill was an avid UF Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars football fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Enza, in 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Dora Jewell (Brock); grandchildren, Nicholas Jewell (Molly) and Steven Jewell (Aubrey); and great-grandchildren, Lillian and Thomas Jewell.
No services are planned locally. Interment with Enza will be at a later date in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
