Erma Wingate Menzel, 93, of Jacksonville, FL went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, June 17, 2010. She was born on November 6, 1916 in Perry, FL to her parents Rosa King and Walker King. Erma loved the outdoors and travel. She enjoyed Southern Gospel Music and traveled all over the states to follow it. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and her dog “B.B.”. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Maude E. Lewis and husband Vasco O. Wingate.
Survivors include five children; Dolores W. Grace (Ernest Jr.), Kirby Lee McCloud (Norman), Frederick O. Wingate (Cindy), Owen K. Wingate (Judy), and Kimberly W. Roberts (David); (12) grandchildren; (15) great-grandchildren; one sister Audrey Lynn of West Palm Beach, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and very dear friends, and her devoted caregivers Enid, Teri, and Ann.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 21, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Edgewood Funeral Home 729 S. Edgewood Ave. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Evangel Temple, 5755 Ramona Blvd. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
