It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Erwin Sylvanus Reeves, who went home to be with Jesus on November 17, 2025. He passed at age 93 peacefully at his home in Neptune Beach, FL. Erwin was born March 25, 1932 in Baxley, GA and later made his home in Jacksonville, FL.
Erwin retired from the Florida Times Union where he was a machinist for over 30 years. He was a supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project. His passions were hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening and repairing antique clocks.
He is predeceased by his wife Gladys M. Reeves and son Randy F. Reeves. Surviving family members include Erwin D. Reeves, Paul A. Washburn, Laraine Reeves Redshaw, Kathleen A. Reeves, 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held for Erwin on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Hardage Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225 at 12:00 PM followed by a funeral service at the same location beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211 immediately following the funeral service.
