

Born August 4, 1935 to Willie Tarrant Tinsley and Edna Christine Tinsley in Marshall, NC, Estelle Tinsley Jenkins, 90, died peacefully in the presence of her daughter, Kimberly Jenkins Coffman, at VITAS Healthcare In-Patient Hospice Care - Kendall in Miami, Florida on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Estelle started her secretarial career at Southern Handkerchief Company in Greenville, SC. She then continued in her career at the Clemson Extension Office at the Greenville Technical Education Center in Greenville, SC for several years. After moving to Jacksonville with her husband, Tommy Jenkins, and four children in 1971, as Tommy was promoted and transferred to Jacksonville by Winn Dixie Stores, Inc., Estelle excelled as an Executive Secretary and Office Manager for the Periodontal Firm of Doctors Frank Scott, Walter Watson, Richard Miller and Christian Berdy in Jacksonville Florida and as a Court-Reporter Typist for many years, supporting the family after Tommy’s medical retirement in 1982. After Tommy’s death in June of 2014, Estelle moved to live with Kim Coffman in Cutler Bay, FL, within Miami-Dade County, from 2016 to 2026.
In 1973, Estelle and Tommy became members of Murray Hill United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class. Estelle served the church in many capacities, including as the Church Secretary and as a Church Board Member, Lay Speaker, and Sunday School Teacher. After moving to Cutler Bay, Estelle joined Old Cutler Presbyterian Church and became active in the church’s drama group, focused Bible Study series, and women’s activities. Estelle also joined the Senior Lift Center, connected with and became close friends with several of the church and Lift members, and became active Mahjong and orchid enthusiasts.
Estelle was also preceded in death by her parents, Willie Tarrant Tinsley and Edna Christine Simmons Tinsley, her sisters Earlene Tinsley Merritt Tanner and Betty Tinsley Huffman, her brothers-in-law Bill Ward, Calvin Merritt, and Bob Tanner, and her grandson Kyle Thomas Jenkins. Estelle’s youngest brother-in-law, Bill Huffman, passed away two days after Estelle on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 in Greenville, SC. Estelle is survived by her sister Louise Tinsley Ward of Greenville SC; her four children: Tony, Russ, Kim, and Scott; her three daughters-in-law: Shirley, Diane, and Janette; 11 grandchildren: Adrienne Barckert (Robert), Amanda Liggins (Christopher) and Alicia Newman (Stephen); Nicole Norris (Bruce), Erin Mitchell (Ryan), Kalee Jenkins, Elysse Rathbone (Zach) and Brianna Jackson (Calob); Michael Coffman (Davine Scarlett) and Alex Coffman (Vicky Pao); Krysten Pierce (Steve); and Adam and Peggy Hellenthal. Her great-grandchildren are Myka Jenkins and Matteo Caramagna; Eirelyss and Ember Liggins; Aria; Karson, Kason, and Kolby Mitchell; Adelyn and Carter Rathbone; Faith and Aliyah Jenkins; Anastasia, Declan, Elias, and Finnegan Jackson; and Samantha Kylee Pierce.
Visitation will be held at Murray Hill United Methodist Church, 4101 College St, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on April 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
A service of worship celebrating the life of Estelle will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Murray Hill United Methodist Church, 4101 College Street, Jacksonville, FL, 32205.
A Committal Service will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, US, on April 2, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
A Remembrance Service will be planned for early summer 2026 at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Palmetto Bay, FL.
