Esther Dohne Neal

Esther D. Neal, 90, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born November 4, 1924 to Hans and Alicia Dohne in Catano, Puerto Rico where she was raised. She graduated from Bayamon High School in Bayamon, Puerto Rico in 1942 and continued her formal education at the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras which she attended for 1 ½ years until 1944. Esther also studied business and related courses at Ramirez Business College in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from 1944-45, graduating as a clerk typist. She married William Thomas Neal Sr. on June 19, 1948 and they were happily married until his passing in 2007. They were married 59 years. She was a long time member of Cedar Hills Baptist Church as well as a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the FRA, The Garden Club of Jacksonville and the CPO Wives Club. Esther is preceded in death by one son Tommy Neal. She is survived by one son Robert (Diana) Neal, one daughter Mary (Emil) Connor, 4 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 5-7pm. Funeral services to be held in the chapel on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 2pm with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
