Etta graduated from Hilliard High School. She was married to James W. (“Jimmie”) Smith on August 24, 1940. Etta had a career as a beautician for many years and had her own shop at home. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, including congregations at Edgewood, Paxon, Lake Forest (previous Springfield), and Fernandina Beach. Etta had a passion for the church, family, and grandchildren (including great and great-great-grandchildren). She also devoted her time to baking and gardening.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda (Carol) Lanoux, and Bonnie (John) Vaughan; six grandchildren, Wes Vaughan, Scott (Niki) Vaughan, Shana (Scott) Bare, Marty Lanoux, Susan (Paul) Hollenbacher, and Brian (Kim) Lanoux; 17 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
She had 11 brothers and sisters, all of whom are deceased.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 12:00 noon on October 25, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.
