Everett Charles Garrett

Everett C. Garrett “Garry”, CDR, USN, born May 4, 1929 in Gravity, Iowa passed away March 29, 2020 in Jacksonville, FL. He had been a resident of Jacksonville, FL since 1956. Cdr. Garrett retired from the US Navy in 1975 following 30 years of faithful service and was the recipient of many military awards. Following his naval career, he served as a volunteer for 26 years on the Board of Directors for Navy Jax/Vystar Credit Union. He was elected president twice and upon retirement awarded Director Emeritus. Mr. Garrett was a lifetime member of DAV Branch 38 and the (MOAA) Military Officer Association of America. He was also the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for his work with the Boy Scouts of America.

Sons Kenyon Garrett and Dean Garrett preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife Rose Mary Shebby Wilson Garrett; son Vernon Garrett of Jacksonville; sister Freda Bond of Orange Park, FL; brother Oren Robinson of Illinois; step-children Stefan Wilson (Barbara) of New Jersey, Shelley Wilson of Jacksonville, FL, John Wilson (Cheryl) of Orange Park, FL, Harris Wilson of Orange Park, FL; grandson Garrett of Orange Park, FL; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205 is serving the family.
