

Gavina Rodin, 75, Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on July 1, 2021. She was born in Palauig, Zambales, Philippines on March 1, 1945, to Pedro A. Farinas and Inez (Aragoza) Farinas.
She graduated with a Bachelor's in Nursing Degree from Far Eastern University, Manila, Philippines. She dedicated herself to a career in nursing before retiring as a Registered Nurse after approximately 45 years of service. Throughout her career, she has helped patients in a variety of health care settings including at hospitals, home heath care facilities, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, and nursing homes. She had a passion for nursing, especially caring for patients within the elder communities.
Outside of her career as a nurse, Gavina was also a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Her enduring love, faith, strong beliefs, and mental toughness have shaped the lives of her loved ones in immeasurable ways.
Gavina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victorio Rodin; her brother, Felix Farinas; and her sister, Rosamunda Farinas Tuliao. She is survived by her daughters, Vivien Wilson (Marc) and Vivile Dietrich (Paul); grandchildren, Amber Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Joseph Wilson, Faith Wilson, and Dylan Dietrich; siblings Edilberto Farinas (Pavia), Manuel Farinas (Judith), Flocerpida Farinas Castillo (Leo), Jun Farinas, Sally Farinas, and Ben Farinas (Ellen); nephews and nieces, Ellen Vallejos, Ian Farinas Ponte, Fe Cabal, Samson Tuliao, Nieves Earley, Daniel Tuliao, Janette Kutnock, Abigail Guzman, Eddie Farinas, Jr., Tanya Farinas, Jane Farinas Escobar, Karen Farinas, Everett Gaviola, Monico Farinas, Lawrence Farinas, Rosalie Bolante, Tracee Graham, Leif Bolante, Daizzee Doctor, Tyler Farinas, and Christine Farinas; and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and wonderful friends.
Gavina was strong, dedicated, focused, loyal, honest, selfless, and compassionate. She willingly helped those less fortunate or in need. She was a woman of steadfast, enduring faith. God obviously had a mission on earth and in heaven that needed Gavina's unique talents and services; and in His divine Wisdom, called her home.

The first Visitation/Wake will be held as follows:
on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N, Jacksonville, FL 32246, at the following times:
1. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (FOR FAMILY only); and
2. From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (for family and friends).
A second Visitation/Wake will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
The Funeral Service will be immediately follow the second Visitation, from 1:15 p.m. to approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 17th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11665 Fort Caroline Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225.
