George "Papa" Decker, passed away on September 21, 2013. He was a long time resident of Jacksonville and an active member of Fouraker Road Baptist Church for the last 48 years. Mr. Decker was proceeded in death by his wife, Nell Decker; and brother Carol Lee Decker; a son, David Herring and a daughter, Linda Lamia; a grandson David Rafferty. Surviving him are children; Alvin Herring; Christine (Charles) Rafferty; Lucy (Joseph) Ciarcia; brother in law, Kelly Weldon; grandchildren, Charles Rafferty, Lisa Leon, Latrice Lewis, Becky Beasley, Gina Ciarcia, Patti Herring-Otte and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jax. FL 32205. A public visitation will be held, Wednesday September 25, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held Thursday September 26, 2013 at 11 AM in Fouraker Baptist Church followed by interment at Riverside Memorial Park, Reverends Ody Witt and Cecil Brown officiating.
