Harold William Chapman, Jr., age 74, passed away on July 30, 2016. He was born on December 31, 1941 in Greenville, South Carolina. Harold spent 30 plus years in the United States Navy retiring as a Master Chief Petty Officer in 1996. His professional training was in the fields of Meteorology, Oceanography, and Climatology. Harold earned an Associates of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelors of Science from the University of New York while on active duty.
He is survived by his wife Cathleen Guest Chapman of 49 years; son, Harold Chapman, III (Christina); daughter Susan Sontag (Brad); grandson, Jonathan Sontag, who provided his PaPa with many fond memories of the times they spent together.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from five o' clock to seven o' clock in the evening at Town and Country Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at eleven o' clock in the morning at Shindler Drive Baptist Church, 7100 Shindler Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32222 with Dr. John Green officiating.
