

Jack Michael Dixon, age 67, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 6, 2015 while surrounded by loving family. Jack was born on January 22, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the youngest child of Charles and Willie (Conrad) Dixon. Jack grew up in Jacksonville, and attended Robert E. Lee High School. Jack had remained strongly connected to his many friends and classmates through social media. After high school Jack joined the U.S. Marine Corp. In September 1967, he was assigned to the Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 242, at DaNang Airbase Vietnam. Upon his return to the U.S. he was assigned to the Marine All Weather Fighter and Attack Squadron 333, at Beaufort South Carolina, where he remained until his discharge in March 1970. So long Jack, SEMPER FI. In 1971, Jack began his career at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph, as a lineman/cable helper. During his career he worked his way through numerous positions of responsibilities and retired in 2000. Jack's special place was the Dixon family cabin located on the banks of the meandering Santa Fe River. Jack enjoyed 50 years on the back porch with family and friends, watching and listening to the river and nature. So much laughter and fun was shared between Jack and family members throughout the years. Jack identified the river and cabin as his, “Heaven on Earth”. Twelve is too many six is not enough. Jack was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor, patriotism, and his deep faith in god. Jack is survived by a sister, Vickie Dixon Ryan, of Jacksonville, and a brother Victor Dixon, of Tallahassee. Jack also leaves behind a host of cousins, and adoring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his parents and a brother C. Vaughn Dixon. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday January 12, 2015 at Normandy Park Baptist Church, 7050 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205 with Dr. Troy Dixon officiating. Interment will follow services at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers family request memorial donations to be made to Acosta Rua Center for Caring, 5450 Ramona Blvd, Jacksonville FL 32205 or Normandy Park Baptist Church.
