

James F. “Jimmie” Williams, Sr. - Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” . (John 14:6) As such, Jimmie confessed his sins, asked for Jesus into his heart and declared Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior on October 1, 2014. Jimmie was the son of Freddie and Blanche Louise (Dorman) Williams, was born in Jacksonville, FL on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1935 and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Jimmie attended Duval County Public Schools and graduated from Old Duval High. In December 1956, along with his best friends William Bumgardner (predeceased), Stanley Tyre, Dave Estep, Paul Albritton (predeceased), and Ray Jacobs, joined the U.S. Air Force. During his four years, he served on the Drill Team, the official ceremonial team of the United States Air Force. Jimmie retired from Jefferson Smurfit, Formerly Owens Illinois, after 38 years. He was a member of the United Paperworkers International Union, a Past Master of Hyde Park Masonic Lodge #370 and a Past Worthy Patron of Riverside Chapter #218 OES. While at the Green Pig in 1953, Jimmie met his Bride-to-Be, Elizabeth Ann “Joy” Smith. In July 1957 Jimmie proposed to Joy at the Krystal on Main Street. They were married the following month on August 10th by President Alvin Chase at Hendericks Avenue Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Ann “Joy” Smith Williams; siblings Jane Justice and Henry Williams; three children James F. “Jimmie” Williams, Jr. (Sharon), Paul Russell “Rusty” Williams (Lori), and Connie Ann Webster (Darrell); nine grandchildren Brandy Robbins(Jay), Christopher Williams (Melissa Boyd), T.J. Williams (Kasey), Eric Williams, Colin Fagan, Corey Williams, Hailee Fagan, Joshua and Jeremiah Webster; eight great grandchildren Christian, Emry, Emily and Blaine Williams, Emma Grace and Adian Robbins, Allison and Ashton Boyd; Sister-in-law Connie Stuart(Carol Altenbaugh); two fur babies Dutchess and Princess; and Special friends Arden DeSaussure, Michelle and Janae Weaver. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Blanche Williams; In-Laws Elmo and Mae Smith; Brother and Sister-in-law Paul and Elke Williams; and fur babies Annie and Baby. A visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00, Saturday October 11, 2014 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, www.townandcountryfuneral home.com. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 11:00 at Riverside Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Ray officiating. The family extends sincere gratitude ti the caregivers of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Riverside.
