He was in the United States Navy from October 26, 1967 to October 19, 1972. He was assigned to the USS McCaffery and during his tour of duty received the National Defense Service Medal and Ribbon. After the Navy, he attended Florida Junior College at Jacksonville, earning an Associate in Arts Degree. He married Janet Mae Hunt Lockhart on November 24, 1980. James Arthur worked at Winn-Dixie stores in Fleet Management. He joined the American Legion, loved riding motorcycles, collecting vinyl records and spending time with friends.
James is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Janet Mae Lockhart and his brother, Bruce W. Lockhart.
Preceded in death by his father, William “Willy” Lockhart and mother Harriet S. Lockhart.
