James Russell O'Dell was one of a kind. He passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL. A friend to all and a lover of life! He loved his Lord and most of all he loved his wife, children grandchildren and friends. Russell spent many of his weekends fishing and cheering on the Gators. Russ loved Jesus with passion. In fact he recently told one of his daughters that one of his greatest joys was knowing that all of his grandchildren loved the Lord and had an active faith in Christ. Russ was retired but spent his years as the owner of Peninsular Warehouse and Penser Transportation where he worked for over 40 years. The O’Dell family had continuous ownership in the company since 1912. Currently, the company exists as PenserSC, a division of Suddath Global Logistics. Russ was born in Jacksonville, Florida and was the son of Raymond and Doris O'Dell growing up in the San Jose area. He attended The Bolles School, graduating in 1962 and then continued to Furman University in South Carolina. Russell is survived by his wife, Sandra O'Dell, who was the joy of his life. The two enjoyed going to concerts, working in the yard, fishing, watching the Gators and just being together. His sister Sherrod English and his four children, Erin O'Brien, Rae Bellingrath, Russell O'Dell Jr and Gary Baucom remember him best for his laughter and loving support. His grandchildren are Bradley Bellingrath, Savanna Baucom, Casey O'Brien, Hannah Bellingrath, Sophie O'Dell, Patrick O'Dell, Max O'Brien, Payson Bellingrath, Samuel O'Dell and Abby O'Dell who adored him! Russ also enjoyed spending time with many nieces and nephews. “Pop” was larger than life and will be terribly missed by all family members and friends.
