Sue and I will miss Jane's kindness.  We met her on a trip to Utah, snowmobiling.  Sue enjoyed playing cards with Jane at the lodge while the rest of us were on the slopes.  She welcomed all even the new one in the group. Thank you Jane you will be greatly missed.

We were so saddened to hear of Jane's passing she was such a wonderful person.  When the Lord walks through the Garden of Life He picks the Prettiest Flowers and he did when he picked Jane for his Band of Angels.  Pat and I loved and will surely miss Jane's kind words and pretty smile.  She always had time for everyone no matter what she was doing.  Harvey you and your entire family in our prayers.

Harvey....I am so sorry.  Jane was always such a delight.   We will all miss her tremendously.

After Jane Faye found me on Facebook I was delighted to enjoy some phone conversations and plans to get together. She reminded me how she visited my family in Wauchula and my older siblings would gather around the piano and sing while my sister played.  I sure hope to see her in heaven. Jane was a very special, one of a kind, lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  Gary Hunt and I send our love. We'll keep Harvey and the family in our prayers now and in the days to come.

Debi I never knew your Mom but you are so awesome and I know you are who you are because of her. I wish you and your family strength to get through your grief.

My mother Eddie Frances (Fussell) Oliver and Jane, or Jane Faye, as we called her in our twig of the family tree, were first cousins. Together, they made me laugh when they were together and talked about their childhood years. As a little girl my mother and I attended the wedding of Jane and her precious husband Harvey. It was by candle light in the sweetest church; just magical. I never forgot it. Forevermore, that imprinted on my child's mind forever more, my concept of how a wedding should be. 

Jane Faye was everything and more described in her obituary, and memories in this guestbook. Indeed, one of a kind, so special, it is hard to adequately put into words just what a treasure she was, on so many levels. 

When we were both much younger I was living out of the country, married and expecting a baby. My budget was so tight I did not have one. The rocky island where I lived was fairly isolated. Things were hard to find even if you had money. One day a large box arrived from home. In it were stacks of wonderful baby and toddler clothes that had been so carefully chosen for her own children when they were small. Unselfishly she parted with them. I don't believe she ever knew just how much that act of kindness meant to me. She had a gift of sharing with others just the right thing at the right time. Whether it be her time, talent, or something else like baby clothes. 

We bonded in our later years over our inclination to be silly when we were together, genealogy, and sharing information about our connected family lineage. When we could, we traded pictures and stories like two kids with new toys. Once, Jane treated me to a trip to one of our genealogical stomping grounds in Sumter Co., FL; and some nearby places. We were both determined not to miss a beat during our schedule of events and research. One day we were tromping through an isolated country cemetery where we knew we had no business. We laughed at how decrepit we thought we were at the time. We both kept stopping to rest because we were running out of air and leg power. Neither of us could have known then that we both needed stents. After long days, we would spend evenings processing the days' find. It was on that trip that we persisted in looking for the home of my grandparents (Jane Faye's aunt and uncle). There was a rumor that it had been torn down. Despite the fact that it was not where it should have been, we continued. We skulked around the area, until we ran out of time.  On our way off the land where the house should have been, we noticed another car and people behind us on the two-rut dirt road. Jane Faye and I looked at each other. Without speaking a word we both began to flag them down. They stopped, we talked, and learned that they owned the home! It had been moved to another piece of nearby land, repositioned, and clad in something that made it unrecognizable. We were invited back for a tour and allowed to take photos. Things like that seemed to happen when Jane Faye was around. Like something special was at work in the place she was. 

In 2008, when my mother was in hospice, Jane made sure to visit before she had to go out of town for an extended period. It was one of the last times mother was responsive. I left the room to give them some time alone together. From the hall I could hear that Jane Faye had Mom totally engaged, miles away from her misery. Time stood still a bit while Jane Faye, by just being herself, had Mom laughing and talking. They were just being cousins together. Their awareness of the circumstances and surroundings was suspended. Mother died a day or so later. I was so grateful to Jane for that gift to Mom. Jane Faye had a way of bringing out the best in situations, and people for that matter. 

The last time we spoke, it was not so long ago. We were working on another family history project. I am heartbroken that she is physically gone from her family and friends. She was a human force of nature... the likes of which simply does not come along very often in this world. It has been my experience that when we have such a big loss, that others, often with good intent and loving hearts, say and do things that are meant to convey the depth of their own feelings and their sympathy for us. I have been guilty of that myself. Someone might ask what happened, or how we are holding up, or avoid the words that are replaying in our thoughts. The problem is that our feelings have not had time to fully bloom. If we were a car we would be functioning on fumes. It is uncomfortable to repeatedly be asked to articulate to others something we have not yet cannot yet fully comprehended ourselves. The plentiful food is a reminder that life is not right. There is so much of it, in the name of us not having to worry about cooking, and no one believes us when we say no thanks. Our appetite is absent. We smile and nod our head, trying to give back the kindness that is intended. It takes energy we don't have. 

In the end, everyone is different when it comes to grief. It is one of the most special gifts one person can give to another to allow them to go though it at their own pace, in their own way, without telling them what they need to do. Sometimes it amounts to simply being a good listener, or a willing companion in silence. Space and time are needed to process it all. The skill of being a presence, not an intrusion is a required if we are to be a source of anything that resembles comfort. 

For me, grief blossoms over a long period of time, and surfaces being triggered in unexpected ways. Crying about the loss generally comes first, later, sometimes much later, I can come to a point of laughing and crying simultaneously about the memories. Time does not diminish the weight of the loss, but it does blessedly mature into a different thing I am more able to coexist with.

My grief about the loss of one of my favorite humans on the planet is real and raw. Right now, my comfort is coming from absolute faith that Jane Faye will a part of those gathered to meet me in Heaven when my time comes. 

Without her my life would not have been the same. Jane Faye, your mighty force is still here in the love you gave, the laughter you spread, and the music you played. Thank you, sweet Jane. I and many others still get to love you always and forever, Claudia

JANE WAS A ONE OF A KIND LADY. PLAYED A LOT OF MUSIC WITH JANE. SHE HELPED ME A LOT. THE JAM SESSIONS WE HAD AT MY HOUSE AND AT THE CHURCH WERE ENJOYED BY ALL. HARVEY MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. EVEN THOUGH I CAN'T BE THERE. JUST KNOW THAT MY HEART AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.

Warren and I were very saddened to hear the news of Miss Jane (as we called her) passing.  Miss Jane was certainly one of a kind. her zeal for life was amazing.  Her humor brought many smiles and laughter to those around her.  She is now making music with angels and putting a smile on Her heavenly family"s faces. Condolences to all of the family.  Jane was one of a kind!  She was my hero.  I remember her funny story about learning to handle her Goldwing over at Spirit of the Suwannee.  I still laugh about that.  She served on the Board of Directors for MANY years in the NFBA, in various positions.  She was a perfectionist and everything she did was in that standard.  She handled that 5-string Bass like it was nothing!  I can remember playing "Down Yonder" as an instrumental, but Jane sang the words to it as we played!  In everything she did, she gave it her all.  In all of us who had the privilege of knowing her and calling her 'friend', she has left a memory that will live on.

I am so sorry to hear of Janie's passing.  We were best friends when we were children ... she and her brother were frequently present at our family gatherings.  I know she will be greatly missed in the Blue Grass community.  My friend, Mike Taylor, is a great fan of her talent.
