Kenneth Wayne Ponton, a beloved resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on November 3, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on September 21, 1941, Kenneth was known for being hard-working and humorous, bringing joy to those around him.
Kenneth had a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, during which he owned his own company. In his later years, he was employed at Fincantieri Marine Repair. Kenneth also served his country proudly as a member of the United States Coast Guard.
He was a devoted family man, survived by his son Kevin Ponton and grandson Cole Ponton of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and his daughter Candace Ponton Katherman of Norfolk, Virginia. His siblings include Judith Ponton Bell and Cindy Ponton Sobelman of Jacksonville, Florida, Jim and Andrea Ponton of St. Joseph, Michigan, David and Deanna Ponton from Portsmouth, Virginia. Kenneth was also cherished by his 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Talton Ponton, his mother, Margaret Stinnett Ponton, his sister, Phyllis Ponton Silverman, and his brother, William Stanley Ponton.
In his personal life, Kenneth enjoyed playing golf and watching football, with his favorite teams being the Jaguars and Redskins. His humorous spirit and beloved presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
