Linda Gail Peek, 82, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026. A published author with a signature firecracker personality, Linda was known for a tough exterior that perfectly guarded a remarkably sweet and generous spirit. Her life was defined by her warmth, compassion, and the countless lives she touched throughout her vibrant journey.
A woman of many talents and passions, Linda's creativity knew no bounds. She loved cross-stitch and all types of crafting, and was an exceptionally gifted quilter who poured her heart into every stitch, making sure to gift her beautiful creations to everyone she possibly could. She also had a deep love for canning, a hobby she pursued with boundless enthusiasm—even if her family can look back and smile knowing it wasn't exactly her strong suit. More than any hobby or accomplishment, Linda was fiercely devoted to her family. For 41 beautiful years, she was the adoring wife of Samuel Lamar Peek. She loved her family with every single ounce of her being.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, James Gillius Strickland and Lennie Mae Anderson Strickland; her son, Timothy Mitchell Tolbert; grandson, Tanner Bowers; granddaughter, Angela Michelle Wiseman; and siblings Joann, Terrell, Richard Earl (half-brother), Maxine, Francis, and Melba.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Samuel Lamar Peek of Jacksonville, Florida; and her children, Tina Trent of Hiseville, Kentucky; Tonja Padgett of Waycross, Georgia; (Teresa) Michelle Taylor of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Sonny (Diane) Walker of Bybee, Tennessee, who she always considered her son; and Michelle (Doug) Riley of Hardyville, Kentucky, her adopted daughter.
Linda also leaves behind a large and loving family of grandchildren, including: Kimberly Tolbert (Hartwell, GA), Mitchell (Kimmie) Tolbert (Maryville, TN), Christina (Calvin) Wanzo (Brunswick, GA), Michael Cory McMillan (Hiseville, KY), Tabitha Michelle McMillan (Hardyville, KY), Christopher Boyd Keene (Liberty, KY), Derek (Shelby) Padgett, Amanda (Bobby) Altman, Heather (Caleb) Sanders (all of Waycross, GA), Samantha (Daniel Buffum) Wiseman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), Megan (Thomas) Wise (Cumberland City, TN), Brandon (Alyson) Taylor (Hopkinsville, KY), Brent Michael Taylor (Clarksville, TN), and Brad (Paula) Taylor (Fort Bragg, NC).
