It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linwood Earl Berry Jr, known affectionately as "Jack" to his family and friends. Jack departed from this world on July 25, 2024, at the age of 70, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Jack's journey began at Citrus High School, where he graduated in 1973. During his senior year, he made the courageous decision to enlist in the Navy, and after graduation, he embarked on a 20-year career of dedicated service. His commitment and valor led to an honorable discharge, and he was fondly referred to as "Big Bird" by many of his shipmates.
Beyond his military service, Jack had a passion for fishing. Whether it was saltwater or freshwater, he found solace and joy in the art of angling. He also cherished the simplicity of no-frills camping, finding peace and contentment in nature's embrace.
Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruby Berry, and their three children, Amanda, Cindi, and James. His presence will be deeply missed by his five grandchildren, Christopher, Kayla, Nicole, Matthew, and Aria, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Bella and Hayden. Additionally, Jack is survived by his sisters, Mary Jane Lee, Betty Jane Pleacher, and his brother, Newton Berry.
Jack's impact on the lives of those around him was profound. He was loved and respected by many, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In honoring Jack's memory, let us reflect on the warmth and kindness he shared with the world. May his spirit find eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire and uplift those who were touched by his presence.
