What do you say?   YES..."Jack" you will truly be missed.  Behind that stead strong will, there was a big teddy bear heart.  He was my watch dog for a bit while my daughter was living in Jax. I too would ask for advice for things she needed help with. I was blessed to also call him

I served with "Chief" Berry on the USS Yosemite in R-1 Division in the 80's. He was a great leader. Rest in Peace shipmate.

Jack and I worked at W.D.in inverness 1971&2 Citrus H.S.. He was always Physically big, So We could get beer without getting carded . Ha haha . He was a good friend.

My condolences to the entire family. Jack worked for me at SIMA, Mayport when I was the R-1 division officer. I will always remember his huge smile and laugh. Jack was one of the best navy chiefs I ever encountered. Prayers to all of you.

Jack was so much fun to work with…..he had a great sense of humor and could bake cakes like no one else.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family. He was irreplaceable.

Jack was one of my dearest and close friends. We served together at several different commands while in the Navy.  We continued our comradery assembling each year at a reunion of the shipmate who served together on USS Vreeland.  I will miss his dry sense of humor, quick wit and occasional health and welfare calls, but certainly not his home brew.  Rest in peace Jack, we have the watch.

I met Jack, Newton, Betty Jane, and Mary Jane in 1970 while attending high school in Inverness. Jack and I quickly became best friends and spent our high school years at each other houses where we became a part of each others family. Jack lived with us for a period of time when he was attending high school and working late nights at Leonardo's Pizza in Inverness. His family had moved between Inverness and Ocala which made it difficult for him to go to school and work.  Jack always had a work hard ethic.  After high school, Jack decided to join the Navy  and see the world.  After a brief stint in college, I decided to join him in the Navy.  Even though we were not on the same ships, we would keep in contact while in port.  After my time in the Navy ended, Jack decided to make it a career.  He found the love of his life in Ruby and together, they had a wonderful family. We kept in touch with each other throughout the years talking about our families and what ever was going on with each other at that time.  We are certainly going to miss Jack and his infectous humor.  Rest In Peace my friend and we will see you on the other side.

One of the most respected chiefs that I have ever worked for, I was able to talk to him for quite a while in June, we were able to catch up on each other’s stories since I last saw him before he left the Yosemite! He always looked out for me and was also a good friend, he will be missed, my prayers and condolences go out to his family during the days and months ahead! God bless
