Marti was born March 9, 1940, a daughter of the late Eloise and Robert Bass. She graduated from Landon High School in 1957 and went on to give birth to five children. Marti then went to cosmetology school where she was a hairdresser for many years. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many.
She leaves loving memories to be cherished by her loving sister, Delores Thompson, three daughters and sons-in-law and one son: Linda (Karl) Shutterly, Sheri (Tim) Nash, Paula (Ricky) Gillard and Paul Kicklighter of Jacksonville, Florida; adoring grand children Tyler Gillard, Sara Kicklighter, Cameron Nash, Kendall Nash and Reese Kicklighter.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Robert Suarez, her mother Eloise Tisher and her son Ernest “Ernie” Robert Kicklighter.
Following a private service, the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd N.
