Mary Brochu Markert, 97, passed away February 15, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born in Newark, New Jersey to Frank and May Brochu. Mary received her degree in education from Montclair State Teachers College in 1940.
She was married to her late husband, William, in 1946 and moved to Jacksonville as a young war bride. She served on the Gateway Girl Scout Council and was a member of the Jacksonville Power Squadron, The Rudder Club, The German American Club and The “20” Club.
Mary is survived by her three loving children, Mary Srulevich (Sal), Catherine Marlow, and William Markert, Jr. (Linda).
She will be missed by her four grandchildren, Scott, Elissa, Laura and Will; and by her two great granddaughters, Claire and Chloe.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society.
