Mary Frances "Fran" Williams Metz, 70, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A fighter to the end, Fran lived her life with humor, grace, and an unshakeable spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Margaret Williams of Jacksonville, Florida, and her brother, David, of Athens, Georgia.
For many years, she worked at Jacksonville Federal Credit Union in downtown Jacksonville, where her warmth and wit were felt by colleagues and members alike. She was also a devoted homemaker who created a loving home for her family. A proud member of Club Continental in Orange Park, Florida, Fran could be found on the tennis courts and made countless friends throughout the years—her social circle as strong as her backhand.
This past year, Fran and her beloved husband, Richard Allen Metz, celebrated their golden anniversary—50 years of marriage, love, and partnership. She leaves behind Richard; her daughter, Jennifer (Jessie) Riles; her son, Jonathan Bradley Metz; grandsons William, Bailey, and Richard Brayden Badger; and great-granddaughter Ellie Marie Hall Badger.
Fran was funny, fierce, and unforgettable. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverside Event Pavilion, located at 1373 Memorial Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL, 32205, United States. The service is scheduled for October 31, 2025, at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Haven Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
