Mary Veronica Reese

On March 7,2024 Mary (Mavis) V. Reese Earned her wings and heaven gained another angel. She was 86 years old and passed away peacefully with her children by her side, While in the care of Baptist Medical Center and Community Hospice Jacksonville, Fl

Mavis was born in Derry, N. Ireland on August 18,1937 to May and Mickey Doherty. She was the eldest child and leaves three brothers and two sisters who will greatly miss her. She married the love of her life Neil E. Reese in 1961 in Derry. She was a navy wife for 25 years and he preceded her in death on April 5, 2002. She missed Her husband immensely and now they are reunited. She was the mother of Cheryl Ellis (Jim) and Neil E Reese, Jr. Who are so thankful for their loving and kind Mom. She was a practicing Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over three decades.

Also Surviving her are four grandchildren Keara (Marcus), Kodi, Sean and Shannon (fiancé Nick). Four Great-Children, Teaghan, Paisley, Reed and Graham. She was the best Granny and Gooey to all of them and all are heartbroken. She will also be missed by her bonus granddaughters Jesse and Jessica. Several nieces and nephews as well as dear friends Maureen, Charlotte and Eva. All will miss her love and friendship.

Besides her husband Neil she was preceded in death by her parents May and Mickey Doherty. Her grandparents, a brother and two nephews.

Visitation will take place on March 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral mass will be on March 13,2024 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 5752 Blanding Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32244 with Father Alex serving as celebrant.
