

Mattie Belle Miller went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2011. She Was born in Highland, Florida to the late Dempsy and Florence Rigby, February 15, 1919. Her family moved to Tampa where she graduated from Hillsborough High. Moving to Jacksonville as an adult, Mattie Belle worked for the Fruit Growers Express for 35 years. Mattie Belle lived to serve her Lord, Family, and her community. She was a worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, an ambassador for Jacksonville, a member of the Woman’s Traffic Club, Railway business Women, Multiple Sclerosis Society and a Board member of Prevent Blindness Florida and a member of the Riverside Avenue Christian Church. Mattie Belle is survived by her son James Hurst and his wife Brenda of Jacksonville, Her son, Vernon Rowe and his wife Jeanne, of Tampa, 2 grandsons and 3 granddaughters, and 9 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mattie Belle’s memory to Prevent Blindness of Florida.
Family will receive quests on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home; located at 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11:00 am. Interement at Riverside Memorial Park.
