Her interest and hobbies which was first and foremost important to her was her Husband, Daughters, and Family. She devoted and enjoyed spending her times with her daughters with dance, cheerleading and photography. She also devoted her time and energy as a caregiver to family and friends in need, including her mother until she passed away at age 49. She was an active member of ALS, MDA organizations and worked with various charities. Melanie is survived by her loving Husband Mike and Daughters Lauren and Kirsten, Father Tommy George Saliba, Brothers David Saliba & Kevin (Heidi), In-laws: Father Herman Mayo Jr, Debbie and John Yamaguchi, Lori and Lionel Bamba, Beverly and Paul Terlaje, Michelle and Steve Barbetti, Danny Mayo, Cindy Mayo and Shirley Mayo. Melanie has many wonderful nieces, nephews & cousins that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother Edna Mae Layne Saliba, Brother Mark Allen, Mother in Law Leonor D. Mayo, Grandparents Gobber George Saliba, Addie Merle Saliba, Trinidad B. Desuyo, Wenceslao Desuyo. Melanie’s final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Melanie had touched in so many ways throughout her very memorable life. Melanie’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quality of time. Her gentle smile and big loving heart brought so much joy to our family and everyone that knew her. She gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Over these last 14 months Melanie has been a great inspiration to us all. Melanie always quoted “If you think your LIFE is HARD think of me and SMILE”. It was never a dull moment, she made us laugh and always had a joke to tell even her medical staff knew they could always look forward to her visits. Special acknowledgements to our close Family & Friends including her medical providers. Her medical providers at the Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville, Dr. Kevin Boylan, (Neurologist) and staff, Dr. Alva Roche-Green (Primary Physician), and those that accompanied her during her visits. We also wanted to extend our deepest gratitude to the entire Talent Acquisition/Human Resources Team at CSX Transportation for the support during this difficult time in our LIVES. Thank you from the bottom of our HEARTS! Mike, Lauren and Kirsten.
