

A native of Jacksonville, FL and a proud graduate of New Stanton Senior High School, Millie was known for having an eclectic and cheerful spirit, witty tongue and undeniable style. She was an active member of the St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal church in Jacksonville, Fl, serving as a Transportation Ministry Coordinator and Secretary of the Young at Heart Ministry. She was also a Honorary Worthy Matron of the Esther Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Affiliated, Louisiana Jurisdiction. Pride of Gretna Chapter #60. She was a passionate antique collector for over 60 years and enjoyed bowling, bingo and visiting flea markets all over the country.
After living and working all over the United States including Guantanamo, Cuba, she retired from U.S. Civil Service after over 40 years of honorable service. Shortly after retiring, she and her husband, Johnnie E. Williams moved from Norfolk, Virginia to the New Orleans metropolitan area where they lived for 15 years. In 2005, following Hurricane Katrina, they decided that they wanted to return home to Florida. They resided in the Orange Park/Middleburg area until her death.
Millie was known to light up the room with her smile. Even as her health began to decline, she never lost her feistiness or her sense of humor. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 34 years, Johnnie E. Williams; two (2) daughters: Stacy K. Cuthbertson and Robin D. Cuthbertson; two (2) stepsons, Kenneth E. (Corliss) Williams and Derrick M. Williams; five (5) grandchildren: Nicole M. Cuthbertson, Kiara B. Williams, Gabrielle S. Landry, Jayden E. Doucette, and Jaylen E. Doucette; one (1) sister, Ella Mae Henderson (Milton); three (3) brothers, James H. (Montina) Carter, Nathaniel Carter, and Donald A. Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie J. Carter and Catherine L. Carter (née Clowers); brother, Johnnie R. (Charlotte) Carter; sister, Lola B.(Moses) Williams; and daughter, Shameka T. Williams.
The viewing will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 12-2:00pm and funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 09:00 am at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida. Interment will be held privately.
