Murl Ellison Johnson "Minner" , age 79, passed away October 27, 2017. Murl was born on September 20, 1938 in Scottsville, Virginia to Kenneth and Elva Johnson. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Murl enjoyed hunting and also spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Murl was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, on April 25, 2016. He is survived by his daughters Wanda "Wendy" Atkins (Richard) and Wanda Pittman (Gerald); his grandchildren Angela, Crystal, Danny, Heather, and Amber; thirteen great-grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters Carrie, Rosie, Haney, George, and Betty.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Pastor Allan Patz will serve as officiant. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
