Priciliana Roy Fabian passed away at the blessed age of 93, peacefully in her home on March 6th surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was affectionately known as Nanay, not only to her family but also to her friends and to every soul she met. She was born in Bohol, Philippines to late parents: Angel and Leona Roy on January 5, 1928.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Fedelino C. Fabian; parents: Angel and Leona Roy; brothers: Nicholas Roy, Licerio Iroy, and Sergio Roy; sisters: Crescencia Iroy, Crispina Amolat, Margarita Iroy; son: Jesus Roy Fabian, daughter: Maria Emerita Roy Fabian; and grandson: TJ Marion.
Nanay is survived by her sister: Paulina I. Acosta, children: Fernando (Irma) and Victor, grandchildren: Kristen, Kathalina (Kyle), Kendra (darling TJ) Angelino, Maria Emerita, Marco (Blessie) and Ann Jella. She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Iliana Bakingking, Kobryn Fidel, Kayliana Princess, Taison Bakongkong, Kordelya Kordeling, Olivia-Esme Pitimini, Kataleya Pitiwhy, Chao, Catryn, and Jaziel; nieces and nephews; extended family members of the Fabian, Roy, Iroy, Fontenot, Ancheta, Crisostomo, and Banda families; and countless friends and neighbors.
“Nanay” means mother and she was truly a mother to all. She loved nothing more than her family. If you were lucky enough to marry one of her granddaughters, you were now her favorite and considered her “Darling.” She expressed her love by her caring and nurturing nature, providing support by being present for every event, cooking her favorite Filipino foods, sending out cards for every birthday and holiday, and creating memories through her photo albums. She never forgot a birthday and would wake you up with her special birthday serenade. When you were sick, Nanay would make it all better with a vinegar bath and a massage with some Vicks or her magic coconut oil. If that didn’t work, she always had some Holy Water on hand. She never let you leave her house without waving goodbye until she couldn’t see you anymore.
She enjoyed socializing with her friends, singing in the church choir, dancing, keeping up with her exercises, eating at her favorite restaurants (Red Lobster, Golden Corral, or a China buffet), and caring for her pets. You would see her power walking the neighborhood with her hat or scarf and her pamaypay. She walked everywhere and enjoyed walking all the way to the store with her granddaughters in their younger years.
She was a forever fan of Vilma Santos, Shirley Temple, Sound of Music, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, soap operas, and The Filipino Channel. She liked to indulge in movie theater popcorn and peanut brittle even if she refused to wear her teeth.
She was always praying, and she instilled faith and a love for God into her children and grandchildren. Don’t ever misbehave in church or else, you would get a firm pinch and a come-to-Jesus meeting.
She leaves behind a legacy as big as her heart. She touched so many lives and we were blessed to have her for 93 years on Earth. She will be immensely missed. Our faith tells us she is among the angels, dancing and singing with those who left before her, and taking walks with her Darling TJ.
We will never forget our dear Nanay. She will live on in our memory and hearts. Love you, love you, love you. See you later, Alligator. Bye bye, you!
Funeral services for Nanay will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 24th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 11665 Fort Caroline Rd. Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
Followed by her final goodbye Celebration of Life and reception at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery 850 St. John’s Bluff Rd N, Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
