A devoted mother of seven, she was also a loving wife who recently celebrated her 68th wedding anniversary to her dedicated husband, Lal. Having lived in the tropical Islands of Trinidad and St. Thomas, “mammy”, as she was affectionately known to her children, loved the warmer climates and especially the beautiful beaches of the Virgin Islands. After moving to Jacksonville she spent much of her time indoors, cheerfully feeding her family and graciously celebrating the birthday of each and every family member with her delicious home-cooked feasts.
Susie is preceded in death by her son Mikey, grandson Yasa, great grandson Sebastian, and son-in-law David. She is survived by her husband Lal; sons Ricky (Sita), Harry (Sherry), Richard, Ian (Ria); daughters Petty (Franklyn) and Julie (Chris); daughter-in-law Joanna (Mikey); grandchildren Danny, Christine, Ishmael, Ursula, Veenaya, and Jacob; great grandchildren Shaun, Avinash, Isaiah, Zachary, and Kaleo; and many nephews and nieces who were precious to her.
The family wishes to thank each and every person who ever took the time to brighten Susie’s days. Those calls and visits were deeply cherished and added tremendous beauty and richness to the tapestry of her life.
