Robert Garfield Benton, age 70, a resident of Fernandina Beach for 19 years, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home with his wife, two daughters and a granddaughter by his side.
He was a member of Amelia Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach. Mr. Benton was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on April 5, 1945. He served 4 years in the Air Force and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration. He directed national and international logistics and materials management systems for Raytheon, relocating with his family frequently, coast to coast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kate Benton. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Holt Benton, his two daughters, Michelle Franklin (Vince) and Addie Poudrier (Scott), and two granddaughters Katie Franklin and Chloe Poudrier.
