Rob was predeceased by his father, William S. Gay (Sam) and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Jenkins Gay; sister Mary Grace Abernathy, husband Tony; brother SSG William T. Gay, wife Kelli (Puyalllup, WA), aunts and uncle Cynthia and Lowell Reardon (Atlanta, GA) and Joyce Gentry (Madison, VA) plus four cousins, and his loving dog Lucy.
Rob was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy, Chatham, VA and attended Florida State College at Jacksonville. Rob was Commander of the junior school his senior year and on the President’s list. He was a member of the golf and drill team. Rob continued to enjoy golf, target shooting and hanging out with friends and family laughing.
Rob made the decision to be an organ donor many years ago. His gift of organ donation gave several people, all in Florida, a new chance on life.
