Robert “Bruce” Yongue passed away on November 4, 2019 at the age of 96. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Julia Getzen Yongue and his brother James A. Yongue. Bruce was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he was a lifelong member and eventually Elder Emeritus of the Murray Hill Presbyterian Church. He attended Lee High School and served in the U. S. Army. Bruce worked for the Seaboard Railroad (now CSX) beginning in 1948, retiring in 1984.
His hobbies included painting, photography, and with Julia, square dancing and travel. He and Julia served as President of the Northeast Florida Square and Round Dance Association in 1971-72. Once retired, they traveled extensively throughout the U.S. by motor home.
Bruce is survived by his children, Robert B. Yongue, Jr. (Pam), Brandon G. Yongue (Maria Crisafi), and Julia “Caroline” Yongue, grandchildren, Heather Yongue, Jennifer Shipes (David), Camille Yongue and Theodore Yongue, great-granddaughters Brianna and Taylor Shipes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
