Rosemary Catherine Kent, 86 years old, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, November 22, 2013 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on August 28, 1927 in East Springfield, PA. She married her sweetheart, John B. Kent on October 23, 1942. They have now shared 71 years together. He has always loved her but showed his love for her in an amazing way by caring for her for many years while she struggled with this dreaded disease. She is survived by her husband, John B. Kent, her children Linda Lanham (Duane), Barbara Moore (Richard), J.B. Kent (Donna) Maryann Kent Healan, Warren Kent (Diane), Jeanie Knagge (Jerry), 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Diane and David (infant twins) and Bert Kent. She was a member of Riverside Primitive Baptist Church. Most people are measured by their success in business and their contributions to society. Rosemary’s greatest contribution to this world was her love for her family and others. Rosemary was the first to tell her children about Jesus, but more important she showed them who Jesus was by how she served others. No one ever went away in need. She shared her home, whatever she had and her time. She taught her children to always step up and help when they could and she did that by example. Rosemary taught her children to always show respect and it didn’t matter how old they got. She knew a hair brush could be used for more than brushing hair and a broom could work just as well. Through good times and bad Rosemary never lost her sense of humor. She loved to make people laugh. She passed that sense of humor to each of her children and it stayed with her until the end. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 for family and friends from 6:00-8:00pm in the chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in the chapel at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thanks to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida for all their compassion and support while caring for Rosemary.
