Rosetta was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Joseph and Rose Raymond. She attended St. Phillips and James School, then Seton High. After marriage to Joseph Doris in 1950, then having two children, Joseph got a job with the Agriculture Department in Jacksonville, Florida. Once settling in a home in the Arlington area much pride and dedication went into being of the founding families that started a new parish called Christ the King Church. Knights of Columbus activities, and having now six children occupied her days. In 1961, Joseph was transferred to Philadelphia, and the family moved to the nearby city of Norristown, Pennsylvania. After five years and the births of two more boys, Joseph was again relocated back to Jacksonville where involvement with the Christ the King Church/School and Bishop Kenny dictated schedules and events for the now large family of eight children. Her beloved husband, Joseph, died in 1982 and left a void in her life never to be filled with the kind of love they shared.
Rosetta was a red hatter, active in the Women’s Health Initiative Program and one of the original members of the Jim Fortuna Senior Center where she enjoyed the many activities and friendship of fellow members. She attended mass at both Holy Spirit and Christ the King Church. Trips to Europe, cruises to the Bahamas, train rides through Alaska, and many car adventures were treasured memories along with celebrations with her own children and grandchildren. Rosetta enjoyed making a favorite meal for birthdays, giving her special belongings as gifts, knitting afghans or slippers, reading, watching classic movies and just spending time with family.
