Roy Dean Foster, 83, of Keystone Heights, FL died Friday, September 20, 2019 at Haven Hospice of Gainesville. He was a native of Kansas City, MO born November 19, 1935 to the late James Authur Foster and the late Elva Marie Foster. Roy was a resident of Jacksonville, FL for 22 years, Brunswick, GA for 31 years and Keystone Heights for 8 years. He was a graduate of East High in Kansas City, MO.
Roy retired from Glidden Chemical S.C.M. Corp. He served 6 years in the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier Valley Forge, he served as a police officer in the Duval Road Patrol in the 1960s and the Florida National Guard. He was a member of the VFW Brunswick, GA American Legion and AM Vets and a member of Keystone United Methodist Church.
Roy is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara B. Foster; son, Stanly (Mike) Kelley; sister, Doris Roth and brother, James Foster.
He is survived by son, Steve Kelley and wife Catherine of Horse Shoe Beach, FL; granddaughters, Michelle Kelley of Charlotte, NC and Christy Prowant and husband Chris of High Springs; grandsons, Daniel Kelley of Keystone Heights, Mike Kelley and wife Marisa of California and Patrick Kelley and wife Mandy of Texas; great-grandchildren, Max Taylor of Charlotte, Kelley Taylor of Atlanta, Jessica Taylor of Charlotte, Carolynn Kelley of Keystone, Roy Kelley of Keystone, Lainey Prowant of High Springs, Hailey Prowant of High Springs, Camden, Bayler and Brendan of California, Paige and Tyler of Texas; Nephew, Ron Roth and wife Gloria of Keystone Heights; and niece Sheryl Turley of Missouri.
A visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205 Wednesday, September 25, 2019 12:00pm - 1:00pm, Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm with Burial to follow. Dr. Tom Farmer of Keystone United Methodist Church will be officiating.
