Sofronio Camba Petalver, "Reno", was born on March 28, 1945 in Pangasinan, Philippines. He grew up with loving family surrounded by a total of ten brothers and sisters. He is survived by a loving wife, Lourdes, three sisters, his son, Rosco and his daughter Lori, and three grandsons Dakota, Evan and Joey. He also leaves behind his niece and nephew, Noel and Ricakynn Sanchez, his cousins Tom and Vida Agas, and great friends Rosco, Jerry and his family from Continental Airlines. We can never forget to mention his number one sidekick, Milton, his dog that would never leave his side. He loved each one of his friends and family a great deal and was gracious to be a part of their lives.
Reno joined the Navy at age 20 and enjoyed a 23 year successful career. After retiring from the Navy he started a new career with Continental Airlines where he gave 18 years of dedicated service. Reno was an avid fisherman and you can often find him throwing a line off the jetty's at Mayport or chasing crabs at Guana River in St. Augustine. He had no problems to teach a newbie or chat about the way the way they were biting with the Veterans. He often said "some day those fish will get even with me".
He would never let you do a job on your own if he was around. No matter how easy of a task it may be. He was a strong man, mentally and physically, and knew how to carry himself. He would stand by you at all cost and be proud he did it. If you asked him for anything, he would never hesitate, and be happy to do it. He was a very modest man and always wanted more for those he loved. Despite all of his successes in his life, he stayed humbled and never boasted or flaunted. It was amazing to see. His goal for his children were not only to be successful in happiness and love, but to be able to have an education.
There are so many things we can say about someone you love. However, this man was definitely genuine and heartfelt in all of his life. He was a good man, loving, and caring. His legacy as such a beautiful person will be forever carried in all of those he touched.Arrangements under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, Jacksonville, FL.
