

She was born on February 25, 1951 in Jacksonville, FL to the late N.M Wilds and Bertha Louise Wilds. She married the love of her life, Richard E. Prevatt Sr. on May 31,1978 who sadly preceded her in death on November 24, 1987.
Wanda loved the Lord and loved to talk to people about Him. She never met a stranger and could start up a conversation with anyone. She always said that kindness was free and everyone could afford to spread it. Her smile and infectious laugh drew you in and instantly made you feel welcomed and loved. Wanda had a beautiful and warm soul. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Wanda fiercely loved her family more than anything. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Granny to her 6 grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren brought a sparkle to her eye. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them.
Wanda graduated from Paxon High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1969. She was a lifelong member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, currently known as Harvest Ministries.
Wanda began work at Southern Bell in 1969 as a phone operator. She worked her way up in the company through various job titles including; calculating clerk, consignor, circuit engineer, D3 Planner, and network designer. She retired from BellSouth in 1995.
Wanda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Mike Ayers, her son Michael C. Prevatt, her sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and John Herbsleb, her sister-in-law, Karen Wilds, 6 grandchildren; Wyatt Ayers, Owen Ayers, Michaela Ayers, Madeline Ayers, Michael D. Prevatt, and Emily Prevatt, 2 nephews, David (Leigh) and Cory (Kat) Wilds and a niece, Heather Propp (Mac). She had many lifelong friends that were like family to her as well. All of these she loved deeply.
A visitation for Wanda will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A committal service will occur Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
In lieu of flowers Wanda would like you to consider making a donation to the ASPCA or your local animal shelter in her memory. Wanda had an infinite love for all animals.
