Wayne Durant

Wayne Durant, at the age of 64 of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of Laynes Road, Brittons Hill, St.Michael, Barbados entered peacefully into eternal rest on May 13, 2022. He was born on May 20th,1957 to parents Clara Juanita Durant (deceased) and Eric Adolphus Durant (deceased).

Wayne attended Unique High School. Wayne migrated to the United States and later joined the US Navy in 1977. Wayne met Colleen in 1977 and was later married in 1981 in the United Kingdom. From this union, they have two beautiful children, Ericka and Wayne Matthew. He was also an awesome, loving grandfather to his princess Taraji. Wayne loved to cook for others, play golf, go fishing and go to watch his favorite football team the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was also an active member of the Barbados Association of Jacksonville, Fl.

Wayne has left many family and friends to mourn his passing. He is the brother of six siblings - Colin Braithwaite, Juanita (Joan) Bancroft, Patrick Durant, Micheal Durant, Laurel Durant (Canada) and Terrence Durant; brother-in- law to Winston Bancroft (U.K.), Wendene Durant, Gloria Durant, Gilbert Alleyne (Canada) & Dr. Marie Reid Durant, Janice Williams-Brathwaite, Ian and Gary Legall (UK); Uncle Wayne to Felicia Durant-Bellamy, Patrick Durant Jr., Ayanna Durant, Adam Durant-Alleyne, David Durant, Paul Durant, Alexandria Durant, Colin Brathwaite Jr., Dr. Joanne Brathwaite and Temple Brathwaite; great -uncle to Zaria and Tyrek Bellamy, Kyan and Ayden Sabapathy, Phillip and Aaron Durant, Nathaniel and Nya Alleyne, Lydia, Nola and Odea Durant, Liam Durant, Ashton Thompson, Emily, Joshua, and Timothy Brathwaite, Luke Brathwaite; son-in- law of Mirleen Legall (U.K.) and Eustace Gay (Barbados); nephew to Gwendolyn Clarke, Clairemont Fields; cousin to Archie Miller, Agnello Cooke, Holly Price, Monica Layne, Roslyn Thomas, Cecilia Miller, Ivan, Allan, Irwin, Maureen and Ivor Clarke; relatives of the Brathwaite, Clarke, Miller and Fields Families; friends of Keith Morris, Willard Gale, Wesley Lynch, Cedric King and the Morris Family; and Godfather to Doriel Gale, Allison and Harrison Gale, Nathalie Freeman and Tanisha Morris.

A visitation for Wayne will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, FL 32225. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. A committal service will occur Monday, May 30, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
