William (Bill) Parks McLeland, 77, died peacefully March 28th 2012. He was born 12-23-34 in Centerville Iowa to the late Harold and Mildred Clow McLeland. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Sue, son Dr. Brad McLeland, daughter in-law Courtenay, beloved granddaughter Hailey, age 7, sisters Karen Merrels of Ohio, Gladys Heasley and Kathy Steine of Iowa.
The family would like to thank staff and especially Dr. Johnson and Nanette Jernigan at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Joey Bennett of Cedar Key Florida, Rev. Joe McCroy, friends Larry, Greg, Rick, Carvi, Kenny, Lee, Linda, Champ, Pat and the wonderful neighbors who were always so helpful.
Bill was a member of 1st Baptist Church and loved people. He always stopped to help others and no one was a stranger. He owned businesses in real estate and sales, loved Florida Gator Football and enjoyed traveling, and especially spending time with his Granddaughter Hailey.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday March 30 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. Jacksonville. The funeral service will be held 11am Saturday March 31, also at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills, with Rev. Joe McCroy officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mayo Clinic Cancer Research of Jacksonville, Florida.
