Patricia Ann Miotke

Pat was the former President and Chairwoman of The Herb Society of

America Southern Michigan Unit, and Cranbrook Gardens Auxiliary

Publicity Chairwoman. Co-founder and past President, along with her

husband George J. Miotke, Jr.,of the Chevrolet Engineering Retirees

Club. In June 2017 she became an Emeritus Member of the Board of the

Friends of the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Mrs. Miotke was first and foremost a wife, mother, and good friend. Her

passions were reading and gardening. She volunteered her time at the

Bloomfield Township Public Library where, in addition to serving on the

Friends Board, she worked on the monthly book sales. Until recently,

her spare time was also spent caring and nurturing her extensive herb,

wildflower, butterfly and perennial gardens surrounding her home. As a

Cranbrook Gardens Auxiliary volunteer she not only worked on the yearly

plant sale, but also designed and helped tend the Kitchen Herb Garden.

In addition to her work on the board of the Southern Michigan Unit of

The Herb Society of America, she taught the Herb Study Group at her

home. She was a gentle, true, and wonderful friend to all who knew her.

Pat was born in Detroit, lived in Sterling Heights and finally in

Bloomfield Hills. She and George were married on May 6th, 1953 at St.

David's Church in Detroit when he was home on leave from the Navy. They

then moved to Oakland, California to make their home before returning to

Michigan. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband in 2014.

Surviving are her daughter Jill (Paul Garfield), sisters-in-law Pat

Nelson and Suzanne B.A. Staats, nephew Gary Staats, nieces Laura (Grant

Zobel), Jennifer Staats, Brenda Staats (Mike Smith), and Linda (Jim

Lindstrom), as well as numerous cousins.
