I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Marx. He was one of my favorite professors at LTU. I always looked forward to attending his class; he was always very patient with me and willing to assist me if I didn’t understand an assignment, and he always taught with such enthusiasm. Whenever he would see me, he would always ask in a joking manner if I was staying out of trouble. He will be greatly missed!

It is a privilege to have known Dr.  Marx, a man of wit, humility, and basic human decency. His sense of humor was a catalyst for his teachings: it will be an epic intellectual moment to watch him conversing with “his uncle” Karl M. Having had Dr. Marx as a dissertation chair was an honor, and his premature and sudden departure is heartbreaking.

Tom was the Chair of my Dissertation committee at LTU. He was always there to guide me through the process. I always found him fair and eager to help. I also enjoyed him as an instructor and I know he will be missed at LTU. My condolences to his family.

I was sorry to hear of Tom’s passing.  We worked together for many years at General Motors.  I remember Tom as a wonderfully passionate man filled with wisdom and integrity.  A picture of Thomas Jefferson was the first thing I noticed when entering his office at GM.  Appropriately,  in his obituary he is holding  a book with the very same picture on its cover.  Lovers of Liberty  both.

When you needed a reality check on your thinking or writing, Tom was the man to see.  He would give you an honest, straightforward and thought-provoking evaluation.

A man of character,  I was blessed to know and work with him.

My sincere sympathies  to the whole Marx family.  Tom and all of you are in my prayers.

You have been a dear friend for so many years.  Bob and I are so saddened to hear of Tom's sudden passing.  You two raised a wonderful family together, so much to be proud of, and wonderful memories.

We are so, so sorry. Tom was such a kind, loving man who was unendingly devoted to his family. We sat with Tom at many baseball games as he quietly supported Tommy and Tyler. Tom always had Arlene by his side and their mutual love and dedication was inspirational. Tom was genuine, loving, smart and will be sorely missed. We consider ourselves blessed to have known Tom. Dr. Marx was my favorite at LTU. I always enjoyed attending his classes because of his passion and the wisdom he shared. He always expressed kindness and compassion to his students which was greatly appreciated. I was looking  forward to seeing him again this Fall; he will be truly missed.

I am extremely saddened to hear about the untimely passing of Prof. Thomas Marx.  

I had the privilege of having a class with him last summer - which was also my last semester at LTU.  We had many interesting conversations during the course,  his wisdom and kindness moved me a lot. He was so knowledgeable. It was a 3-hour long class. He always insists on writing the class note by himself on the whiteboard (rather than pre-prepared reusable slides), and giving the speech at his highest volume throughout the lesson. He was such a good professor and mentor.

I wish his soul rest in peace and send my heartfelt condolence to you and all other members of your family. We will miss you forever.

I was shocked to see the sad news that Dr. Marx passed away. He was my academic advisor for my doctoral study at LTU. Dr. Marx was my favorite professor. For more than six years, I admired his humor, erudition and insights on many subjects of social study. I learned so much from Dr. Marx to hold high standard of integrity and rigor in academic research. His teachings, our emails and conversations still seem to have just happened yesterday and they are very precious for the rest of my life!

I was a student of Dr. Marx both in undergrad and my grad degree. He was always there to listen and be understanding and had great stories. My dad, now passed, and a lot of my family were also Air Force. I wish I had gone to see him it was only several years ago that he expressed that I should go forward with my PhD. I did and am almost done. It is quite a shock. He was one of the good ones, one might say. He said that his wife said he needed a shirt saying if I'm talking you should be taking notes.  I took massive amounts of notes. I can't speak any further words that could even intone how shocking and sad this is. God bless.

Warmest regards to all of Tom's family.  I feel so fortunate to have known your Tom as the chair of my doctoral committee.  He was an exceptional man in so many ways and he touched so many lives.  In our interactions he seemed to have mastered blending a demand of excellence and individual accountability with providing support and encouragement.  He was brilliant and discussions with Tom were always worth having.  I really loved Tom and will miss him.  He left the world a bigger and better place.  Rest in Peace.

It was with great sadness that I learned of professor Marx’s passing . I enjoyed being a student in his MBA leadership class in 2016. He was an exemplary professor and a well-loved person. I feel lucky that I got to know him.

I am very sad to hear that Professor Marx had passed away.. He was my instructor when I did my MBA at LTU 2013-2015. I learned a lot from him and had the honor to have met a person like him.. Professor Marx, may you Rest In Peace and you will always be loved & remembered 🙏 

Dr. Marx was my favorite professor. He made every class engaging and really took the time to share his vast knowledge with students. I will never forget the analogies he shared, nor his kind words of wisdom.

It was a pleasure for me to be a colleague of Dr. Thomas Marx at the LTU's College of Business and Information Technology. He and I, both, worked for GM before and that was a natural connecting point for the start of our friendship. He was a thoughtful man and always thought twice before he spoke wisely.  As an educator he went above and beyond to help his students. He always delivered compelling speeches with the confidence of a learned man that moved hearts with minds and motivated actions. I know how difficult it is to bear the heavy sorrow of the passing of a loved one.  My prayers go to the loved ones he left behind as they go through such difficult time. He will be missed, always.

I lost words when I learned the news about Dr. Marx having left us. I  am very sad because his passing seems to be so sudden.

Then, I decided to take this opportunity to celebrate his life, full of his own accomplishments and achievements of his many students. As one of his doctoral students, I am forever grateful for his lasting and profound impact on my academic career. 

To the Marx family, I thank you for your generosity that enabled Dr. Marx to spend countless hours mentoring and coaching his students, no matter their backgrounds. You lost a greatest husband, father, and grandfather. We lost a greatest professor! May his greatness bring you comfort at this difficult time of loss and sorrow.

Dr Marx will be greatly missed.  I had the great pleasure of having Dr. Marx as my professor at LTU.  Not only was he extremely knowledgeable but he was a kind and sweet person, and in this world that means more than anything to me. Dear Marx Family,
Your Husband, Father, and Grand-father was a great influence on my life as a student with LTU. DR. Marx was a challenging professor and very good hearted man. He taught me and my classmates an enormous amount  the global economy and the interactions of nations in commerce and trade. He showed a passion for teaching and learning. He also had a great sense of humor and could take a joke and dish them out with aplomb. It was a lot of work but a very great pleasure to learn from him.
