William Miles Drescher

William Miles Drescher, age 86, formerly of Orchard Lake, passed away on July 25, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Carolyn Thorson Drescher. Loving father to Rebecca (Jerome) Meldrum and Kristin (Christopher) Mumford. Devoted grandfather to Benjamin, Alexander, Megan, Raleigh and Sarah. Bill was born in Bay City, Michigan to parents Marion Richard and Helen Winifred. He married the love of his life and childhood sweetheart Carolyn in 1951. Bill held a degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, was a military veteran in the Korea War and enjoyed a career with General Motors Truck and Bus until his retirement. Bill and Carolyn were founding members of the West Bloomfield Methodist Church and loved the church family. He had a passion for woodcarving, painting, the beauty of the outdoors, fishing and his children/grandchildren. He spent the last ten years at Canterbury-on-the-Lake in Waterford and was served by an amazing staff of loving, devoted caregivers. Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held for William Drescher on August 20, 2015 at 2PM at St. Luke’s Chapel on the grounds of Canterbury-on-the-Lake in Waterford.
