Graveside Services for Alton Edwin Shoemaker, 83, of Killeen will be 11:00am Monday October 3, 2011 at Killeen City Cemetery. Mr. Shoemaker passed away September 30, 2011 at a local hospital following a short illness.
He was born in Redwater, Texas July 20, 1928.
He spent a total of 43 years in federal service, 21 in the US Army, where he retired as a Staff Sergeant, and 22 years in Civil Service on Fort Hood.
He is survived by his son, Glenn Allen Shoemaker and wife Glenda; granddaughter Melanie Gail Carter, and 2 great-granddaughters Aurora Belle and Ryleigh Grace Carter, all of Kempner; 2 sisters Bertie Mott of Splendora and Lou Mulsow of Marlin; 1 brother Billy Ray of Belton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Josie Shoemaker, wife, Brunhilde "Bonnie" Blum Shoemaker, 4 brothers, Columbus, Oscar, Jack, and Curtis and 3 sisters Bea Ackley, Barbara Williams, and Willie Mae Castillo.
