Arlene was raised and educated in rural Williamson County and graduated from Florence High School in 1957. She attended the Jackson Business College in Lampasas, which became very important later in life as she helped manage several of her future husband's businesses. Arlene met the love of her life, Wayne Cosper, and was married on August 13, 1960. They were married for 63 years, and together they raised five children and built a successful business. When she was not helping manage the family business, she had a small business early on selling Sara Coventry Jewelry and Avon.
Her love and passion in life was her family; however, she had an incredible green thumb and was known across the community for her extremely beautiful gardens. She would spend hours each day pruning and planting every flower that would bloom in this area. People would regularly stop in front of her house to admire all of the beauty in her gardens, which wrapped across her front and back yard perimeter. She had her own botanical gardens surrounding her home that she loved to show off.
As her children got older, she found a new passion in church, studying Bible scriptures and teaching Sunday School. She immersed herself in everything to do with serving the Lord at Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member for 55+ years. Anytime there was a need, from visiting families across the community, to sharing the Gospel and witnessing to strangers to helping around the church, she would be the first to volunteer. She loved her women’s ministry and teaching her Sunday School class every week for 25+ years.
As she got older, her love for wind chimes and Christmas decorations became a new hobby. She hung wind chimes throughout her house, and she loved Christmas figurines and snow village houses. Her house stayed decorated for Christmas year-round, and she was constantly adding to it. She also had a love for books from a young age. She would read novels in record time, often staying up late at night just to finish them. Her extensive library collection was something she took pride in, and she could recollect many of the stories in those books.
Everything Arlene did, from raising a family to teaching the scripture, to gardening, to collecting books, wind chimes, and Christmas decorations, she did it with enthusiasm and in a big way! She never met a stranger and showed the love of Christ to everyone she met. Her life was full and blessed!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne Cosper, her daughter Rebecca Lynn Moser, and her brothers Anthony Taylor and Kenneth Taylor.
She is survived by her sister Diana Yauger, her son’s Kevin (Teresa) Cosper, Wayne Jr (Angela) Cosper, and Scott (Christy) Cosper and her daughter Debbie (Brad) Dayvolt; her grandchildren Amanda Moser, Ashley (Richard) Cosper-McCurdy, Alicia Cosper, Travis (Lesley) Moser, Brooke (Dominique) Spencer, Jonathan Moser, Taylor Cosper, Cody Cosper and Kaitlyn Cosper, and 12 great-grandchildren.
