Bernie R. Summers passed away peacefully at Harker Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation on Monday, August 4, 2025. He was 94 years old. Bernie was born in Abilene, Texas on April 9, 1931 to Bernie Summers & Lena Wilbanks Summers.
Bernie enlisted in the Army on December 28, 1948 and was transferred to the Army Reserve on March 13, 1951. During the Korean war, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan with the 8th Army from 1949 – 1950. He retired from the City of Abilene in January, 1993.
Bernie is preceded in death by his wife, Sady Summers, two brothers Eugene Mandell Summers and Billy Mack Summers, two sisters Bernice Lott and Nona Faye Steele.
He leaves loving memories to be cherished to his daughter Angela Sanders and husband Mike Sanders and one grandson Lance Sanders.
In accordance with Bernie R. Summers wishes, a private family burial service will be held.
