Clinton Griffin

In 1959, Clinton proudly joined the United States Army, where he served his country with honor until his discharge in 1980 as Master Sergeant. Some of his awards include the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Meritorious Service Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and Sharpshooter. Following his military service, he continued his dedication to public service, retiring from Civil Service after 25 years.

On November 6, 1959, Clinton married the love of his life, Phyllis Brown, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Clinton especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Trimmier.

Clinton is survived by his son, Richard Griffin, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Griffin; grandchildren Katryna Fahlgren (John), Jesse Hatfield (Ricky), Jake Griffin (Analyce), Beau Hilbert (Val), and Taylor Lucus (Kalon); 14 great-grandchildren; his sister, Judy Hodges (Mark), daughter in law, Stephanie Griffin, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis; his parents, J.B. and Merle Griffin; his son, Clinton Griffin Jr.; his grandson, Karl Griffin; and his siblings, Carl, Joe, Homer, J.B., Ann, Ruth, Lila, and Patsy.

Clinton will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of the outdoors, and his steadfast service to both his country and community. His legacy lives on in the lives of all who loved him.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jake Griffin, Ricky Hatfield, Steve Holloway, Doug Aldrich, Hank VanDeWeert, DeWayne Lisenbe.

A visitation for Clinton will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, TX 76542. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. The committal service with full Military honors will be rendered at the graveside at 1:00 PM in the Killeen City Cemetery, 2408 E Rancier Ave, Killeen, TX 76543.
