

Sergeant First Class (Ret) David Royce Gruver, age 68, of Killeen, Texas passed away at home on August 29, 2025.
Born in Washington, DC to Mildred and Donald Gruver, David was a 1977 graduate of Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, MD and went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Army for 20 years as a Chemical Operations Specialist and Instructor. David devoted himself to the values of discipline, duty, and leadership that defined his military career. His service took him to Germany, Korea, and locations across the United States.
After his service, David worked as a Hardware Technician at Baylor Scott and White Hospital and then at ACER. A younger David loved scuba diving and repelling, but more recently, enjoyed genealogy research, survivalist strategies, computers, and reading.
He is survived by his brother, Delyn R. Gruver (Dawn) of Edgewater, MD, his sister, Leslie A. Stack (Christopher) of Broomall, PA; his step-mother, Elizabeth Simmons of Deal Island, MD; his nephews, Daniel Stack of NYC, and Benjamin Stack (Alice) of Gardiner, ME; and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
A graveside service will be held on November 10, 2025, at 12:00 noon at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, MD.
