MSG (Ret.) Donald White

Retired Army Master Sgt. Donald White 69, of Dearing, GA, passed away peacefully in Harker Heights Wednesday July 17, 2013 . The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 8:00 AM in the chapel of Crawford-Bowers funeral home. Burial will follow in the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Crawford-Bowers funeral home of Killeen.

Donald was born on April 1, 1944 in Dearing, GA., He retired from the U.S. Army in 1985, as a Master Sergeant in Fort Riley, KS with 23 years of military service, having served in Germany, Vietnam, Fort Polk, Fort Ord, Fort Riley, Italy, and Fort Hood. He was awarded numerous awards and decorations, the most notable being three Purple Hearts w/ 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, W/2 Silver Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, Army Commendation Medal, w/ 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, (7th Award) Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation.

Upon retirement, Donald always took in old western movies, fishing and reminisced of his army days. To his friends he was a good neighbor loyal and dedicated. To his family, he left behind a legacy built on integrity, loyalty and love.

He was preceded in death by his father Willie Hobbs Sr., sisters Annette and Deloris Hobbs, and his daughter Deanna White.

He is survived by his wife Diana White, his daughters Donna Tennesen, Dionne Hutchens, Dana White, Meosha White and son Retired Chief Petty Officer Donald White Jr., grandchildren Tasha, Deanna, Sean, Kaitlyn, Nate, Anthony, Mariah, Daevion, 1 great grandchild, Major Lisa P White, and Bernard White. Mother Helen Hobbs, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, Samuel White and Sook-ja Ray.
