

Donna O’Kelley Gibson died May 11 at Scott and White Hospital due to complications from myelofibrosis. Services for Donna are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 16 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be for family only.
Honorary pallbearers for Donna are Stephen E. Blythe, Frank A Halbrook, John O. Roark, Billy Bryan, Scott Smonko, Ronald Gawryszewski, Robert McMinn, and Rodney Lynch.
Donna was born on January 21, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas to Johnnie Mae and Milton Damon Bernhard. She attended school in San Antonio, graduating from John Marshall High School in 1965. Donna earned a BBA degree from Sam Houston State University in 1968 and moved to Temple. She then attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, receiving her teaching certification.
Donna worked at Western Auto Supply Company but returned to teaching to spend more time with her beloved son, Wallace. Donna taught at Belton High School, Travis Middle School, Lamar Middle School, and Bonham Middle School.
Donna was predeceased by her parents and former husband Mike O’Kelley.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, son Wallace and wife, April O’Kelley of Austin, and sister Johnnie Oliver and husband, Mike of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
A very special thank you to Dr. Juan Caraveo for his outstanding care, Suzette Fanto for her care and concern, and the Blue Angels of the Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Center for their wonderful care. Most of all, thank you to Bill for his sweet and abiding nature and caring for Donna through this disease.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Center, Scott and White Hospital, Temple, Texas or the American Cancer Society.
